Santiago Salvador Ascui Exhibition Catalogue
A 16 page exhibition catalogue featuring the work of Chilean painter and print maker, Salvador Santiago Ascui. Ascui prints and paints minimal, bold and design-oriented figures in analogous color schemes which convey a strong sense of unity. Structure is evident, but tangled and overlapping figures provide a delicate floating softness and gentle curiosity that is unique to his work.
I wanted people to interact with this catalogue differently in comparison to a standard booklet, so I chose to set the content vertically and included a small cover tab to hold the title, contact and piece information. Image sizes reflect the actual sizes of the pieces.
Smaller pictured pieces are smaller in actual size, and full page spreads are some of his larger works. The typesetting was influenced by the sense of direction present in the work, or by which side of the artwork the text resides on.
